3 Easy steps to open the closed guard - ( BJJ white belt tips )

If you practice Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, you will know white belt can be an information overload. Having trained in Karate and Muay Thai suddenly I was thrown into whole new world, where I was completely out of my depth.

I trawled the internet for help and discovered lots of tutorials but for my experience level I couldn't make them work. There are  thousands of techniques in BJJ , so it can be confusing knowing what to try. I found the key really is simplicity and understanding how to keep your posture when opening the closed guard.

I have trained with some really good closed guard players and failed many times to open their guard, only to be swept. I discovered this video that the warrior collective put out on 3 easy steps to open a closed guard. I have had success and stayed safe using this technique and thought I would share my experience.

They are very simple steps but key details, which us white belts need.   As long as you keep a good posture and create space it will give you options on how you wish to pass. This video shows the double under pass which happens to be my one of my favourites.

Let me know if it works for you. Oss!
